Eyewitness Honduras: Since the U.S.-Supported Coup
The Gay Liberation Network has long argued that LGBT people shouldn’t concern ourselves only with our own rights.
We are a rainbow community, many of us sharing additional oppressed identities in addition to being LGBT. We must not only demand LGBT rights, but be in solidarity with all demanding their rights.
In this spirit, GLN’s Buddy Bell has traveled several times in solidarity tours of Honduras, a Central American country currently suffering severe human rights abuses thanks to a U.S.-supported military coup against its democratically-elected president.
We were particularly honored in this program by a phone-in from Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, from Andrea Nuila of Feminists in Resistance, and Raúl Mendoza of Artists in ResiAndrea Nustance and the Walter Trochez Alliance.
