Hyatt Workers’ Struggle for Justice
The Hyatt Hotel Chain is one of the “big 3” hotel groups in U.S. and its biggest stakeholder is the Chicago-centered Pritzker family, one of the ten wealthiest families in the world.
For all their wealth, Hyatt is a notorious user of subcontractors to undermine the union and impose hazardous working conditions on its workers.
After two years without the contract, Hyatt is now threatening to cut off its union workers health insurance. UNITE/HERE’s Levi Pine and the Gay Liberation Network’s Brent Holman-Gomez explain the issues, including why LGBT should be concerned with workers’ rights at Hyatt.
