Kissing-In for Equal Rights in Cook County
La Fiesta restaurant in south suburban Alsip did its level best to deny service to a local gay couple, Frankie Nielsen and Danny Hankes.
What Frankie and Danny found out was that the enforcement provisions of Cook County and Illinois state laws guaranteeing equal access to public accommodations are weak indeed.
Their solution? With GLN they organized a kiss-in at the restaurant, earning it much-deserved bad publicity for its bigotry. Frankie and the Gay Liberation Network’s Andy Thayer report on the action in this episode.
