“From Russia With Pride”

This segment features guest speaker Russian gay activist Nikolai Alekseev. As a student at Moscow State University, Nikolai wanted to study the legal aspects of homosexuality for a P.H.D. but was barred from doing so and kicked off campus. Nikolai then wrote two books on the legal aspects of homosexuality. Nikolai created the web site www.gayrussia.ru & organized the first Russian pride parades. Despite the fact Russia decriminalized homosexuality a decade before the United States did, gay rights and human rights are still violently suppressed by opposing forces.
