Scapegoating Minority Youth in Boystown

A recent video-taped stabbing in Chicago’s LGBT entertainment district has led to calls to “Take Back Boystown” — racist code words, we believe, against minority LGBT youth who hang out in the neighborhood.

Rather than supporting expansion of neighborhood youth programs, many of the “take backers” advocate cutting what few programs there are. With youth unemployment at record levels in the city, such calls scapegoat the most disadvantaged members of Chicago’s LGBT community….
